Pittsburgh, Pa. − July 9, 2019 − Senator Lindsey M. Williams announced today that seniors can now sign up for Port Authority’s new Senior Citizen ConnectCard at her District Office in Ross Township.

The Senior ConnectCard allows seniors age 65 and over to ride Port Authority and other public transit vehicles across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for free. Although Port Authority will continue to accept blue or yellow PA Senior Transit ID cards, seniors who currently use their Medicare ID card to ride public transportation for free must obtain a Senior ConnectCard by the end of the year.

Seniors can complete the application by visiting Senator Williams’ office at 5000 McKnight Road, Suite 405, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15237 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to reduce potential wait times. To make an appointment, please call 412-364-0469.

“I’m excited to offer this new service to constituents in my office,” said Senator Williams. “Seniors can get an improved ConnectCard that provides them with an easier boarding process and better service without having to go downtown. I know that the community has been excited for this program to get started and now that we have the equipment and training, my staff is eager to help get people signed up.”

Seniors who complete the application at the legislative office will be notified when their Senior Citizen ConnectCard can be picked up, typically within two to four weeks.

Applicants must be 65 years of age when applying and must present one of the following as proof of age:

  • Photo driver’s license
  • Birth certificate
  • Armed Forces discharge or separation papers
  • Baptismal certificate
  • PACE ID card
  • Passport or naturalized papers
  • Pennsylvania ID card
  • A statement of age from the U.S. Social Security Administration

The new Senior Citizen ConnectCard offers riders improved security, easier boarding, and better service. The new card works just like a ConnectCard, but does not need to be loaded with stored value.

Senior ConnectCard processing will also be available at other legislative offices in Allegheny County. Seniors are encouraged to call Port Authority Customer Service at 412-442-2000 with any questions or concerns.
